Knowledge Presentation and Cognitive Psychology

Description

The course Knowledge Presentation and Cognitive Psychology presents an overview of the core topics in cognitive psychology. These topics include (human) perception, learning, memory, planning, problem solving, reasoning, language, speech, and action. Both the functional and anatomical foundations of cognitive faculties are addressed. Several models of cognition that are of relevance to knowledge engineering will be outlined.

Knowledge and understanding

The student acquires global knowledge and insight into the domain of cognitive psychology. Where possible, relations to the knowledge engineering are emphasized.

Students have become experienced in the main theoretical views and findings in cognitive psychology. In addition, they have identified the major limitations of theories and interpretations of psychological and neuro-cognitive findings.

Making Judgements

Upon completion of the course, students are able to collect and interpret data and literature about a subject in (or related to) the domain of cognitive psychology. Using the data and literature, they can support judgments about the societal, scientific or ethical aspects of the subject.

Communication

Students are able to communicate ideas and solutions to an audience of non-experts and experts.

Skills

Students have acquired the learning skills for enrolling follow- up educational programmes that require a high level of autonomy.
